B and I had some meaningful conversations today, about love, loyalty, and how the military made us rush into marriage sooner than we’d otherwise have done. But those conversations aren’t making it to the blog, at least not right now. Here’s the one I will part with.
B: I sent away for my voter registration and I still haven’t heard anything yet.
C: I had to pay a change of address fee when I updated mine. Did you pay it?
B: No need. I wasn’t updating; I was registering for the first time.
C: What? You’ve never voted before? What kind of citizen are you?
B: Uh…the kind that went to war for our country three times.
(pause, followed by giggling)
C: I’ve just been owned, I think.
B: Yeah, I think so.
